Re-launch and Dry Port Takeover
In February 2016, MOFED Tanzania Limited was re-launched as
Zambia Cargo & Logistics Limited (ZAMCARGO), marking a pivotal
moment in the company's evolution. Following this, in July
2023, ZAMCARGO was entrusted by the Government of the Republic
of Zambia to take over operations of the Zambia Dry Port in
Walvis Bay, Namibia. These events reflect ZAMCARGO's
commitment to growth and its expanding role as a key player in
the facilitation of international trade.
2001
Company Establishment
Zambia Cargo and Logistics Limited was initially
known as Zambia Consolidated Copper Mines Limited
was established early 1975 and the first employee
was recruited in May 1975. The Company was formed
to provide freight forwarding services to the former
Zambia Consolidated Copper Mining Conglomerate
(ZCCM).
On 7th June 1988, the name of the Company was
changed to ZAMCARGO LIMITED registered as a
clearing and forwarding business.
2002
By early 2002, ZAMCARGO extended its freight
forwarding and cargo handling services to Tanzanian
exporters. This expansion marked a significant
milestone in the company's growth, capturing a
sizeable share of the Tanzanian exporters' market.
