ZCL is a wholly owned state enterprise of the Government of the Republic of Zambia, supervised by the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) based in Lusaka. The Company's current corporate Head Office and its main operating centre, Mukuba Depot, is located in Kurasini area, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania next to the dockyard.

Essential job functions:

The Risk and Compliance Officer will be responsible for supporting and ensuring controls and Compliance policies in place are aligned with Enterprises Risk Management Framework (ERMF) of the Company. He /She will be involved in providing compliance support in conducting risk assessment, implementation and maintaining compliance risk management processes and methodology.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare Risk Management Plan (RMP's) for compliance policies and conduct consultation sessions with the business in all compliance policies and standards
• Conduct gap analysis and perform verification checks on compliance policie
• Managing relationships with local and foreign transporters
• Continuously improving the risk management and compliance processes.
• Tracking changes in compliance policies controls and conduct training on compliance policies
• Drive Business areas compliance policy requirements
• Implementing corrective and preventive measures to avoid recurrence.
• Identify gaps and areas of improvement in compliance Policies/Standards and ensure the gaps are addressed timely
• Respond to compliance breaches and risks compliances events.
• Maintain an up to date and comprehensive compliance register of all Policies and related Standards, and Monitor Policies and related Standards lifecycles
• Develop and coordinate implementation of the organization Risk Management Policy and Process
• Perform a risk assessment by analyzing current risks and identifying potential risks that are affecting the company.
• Investigate irregularities and non-compliance issues
• Report compliance issues and recommend changes
• Develop and implement strategies necessary for minimizing risk of non-compliance
• Prepare regular reports on risks and compliance status for senior management and the Audit and Risks Committee
• Design and implement an early warning or trigger system for breaches of the company’s risk appetite or limits.

Required Qualifications And Work Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or closely related areas and with more than Five (05) years’ experience on similar or auditing role.
• Professional qualification including either Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and Certified Risk Management Professional (CRMP).
• Working knowledge of ISO Standards
• Exposure to Freight and Forwarding industry.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Computer skills.

Essential job functions:

The Company is then looking for suitable candidates to fill in the open vacancy positions for the Freight Forwarding unit in our office located in Ndola, Zambia. The unit will be responsible to develop and implement strategies for efficient freight forwarding operations, oversee and manage the freight forwarding activities, ensuring that strategies are in place to guarantee the availability of financial resources for its core business and sustainability of new partnerships and collaborations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensuring that all necessary documents, such as bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin, are accurately prepared and in order.
• Checking the accuracy and completeness of documentation to ensure compliance with customs regulations.
• Preparing and submitting customs declarations in accordance with local laws and trade agreements.
• Communicating with customs officials to facilitate inspections, address queries, and resolve any issues that may arise during the clearance process.
• Coordinating and overseeing the physical inspection of goods by customs authorities to ensure that the process is completed efficiently.
• Ensuring that the cargo matches the description provided in the documentation and that it meets all regulatory requirements.
• Maintaining accurate records of all transactions, communications, and documents related to cargo clearance for future reference and audits.
• Providing regular updates to clients and management on the progress of cargo clearance.

Required Qualifications And Work Experience:

• Diploma or Certificate in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
• Certification in Clearing and Forwarding, Specialized training or certification courses in clearing and forwarding.
• Understanding of customs procedures, import/export regulations, and border control policies is essential.
• Experience in logistics, customs clearance, or freight forwarding. Experience handling border cargo or working with customs authorities is particularly beneficial.
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients, customs officials, and reporting supervisor. Understanding of safety standards, especially when handling hazardous or sensitive cargo.
• High level of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct.
